Course Overview 

Any organization’s payroll efforts are supported by bookkeeping. In every company or organization, payroll processing is one of the most complex and accurate activities. This course will teach you how to manage bookkeeping and payroll processes in the most efficient way possible. Employees are paid on time and at the right rate, thanks to payroll processors. They set up withholding and processing for payroll taxes as well as other costs like insurance and retirement savings. They also deal with payment problems and questions. Payroll managers ensure that an agency adheres to federal, state, and local tax laws, as well as prompt and reliable payroll reporting. Bookkeepers are responsible for keeping track of a person’s, company’s, or organization’s financial health. Since payroll is such an important part of an organization’s accounting, bookkeepers are often charged with both. Strong bookkeepers set up, deploy, and maintain systems that track the flow of funds into and out of an entity’s accounts (revenue and payroll and expenses). Traditional bookkeeping’s manual entry features have been replaced by QuickBooks®. However, human feedback and processing continue to play a significant role in the organization, monitoring, and use of financial data. Knowing how to use QuickBooks to simplify the bookkeeping practice is critical to being competitive in today’s job market.

Course Objective

• Calculate simple accounting equations.
• Apply accrual accounting principles to cross-period transactions and monitor the impact of accrual and deferral transactions.
• Learn how to calculate salaries and taxes using arithmetic and formulas.
• Learn about the most common benefits and incentive plans provided by employers.
• Understand the laws that regulate payrolls, such as the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 and the Internal Revenue Code.
